My friend spotted a windmill that was installed at Kuwait Environment Protection Society in Shuweikh for power production, I contacted them and they said they will soon fix 17 windmills over Kuwait, great!

The windmill can generate about 3000 watts in 24 hours and can store the energy for later usage, this is great for Kuwaiti environment. I recall a project to use windmills in Kuwait but not sure if they are still on-track.

Thanks [Fahad]

This is what using a capable modern mobile device (in this case the Galaxy Nexus) as a desktop PC. Connection that are used are:

  • Micro USB to HDMI MHL Adapter (supports audio)
  • 3.5mm Audio caple (optional. as HDMI has audio)
  • Bluetooth Mouse/Keyboard/Apple Magic Trackpad

With mobile devices getting more  powerful with each release, and HTC already rumored to release the first quad-core phone. The days of having a separate desktop PC are numbered except for hardcore gamers and professionals. Phones like the Motorola Atrix tried to harness the power of current generation mobile devices by releasing a “lapdock” for their phone.

Even Asus think that phones are pretty capable devices. They showed-off  the “Padphone” concept phone last year where you slide the phone in a tablet casing making it a full fledged tablet.

What I think this needs is induction charging and a wireless display technology to get rid of all the wires. This might not get me hooked, but I know a few users that like the extra real-estate that a desktop PC gives them, and this might be the answer.

Some news on the ipad 3 and Apple TV

HACKTIVIST GROUP Anonymous has plundered a conference call from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and posted it on Youtube.

In the audio FBI agents at a number of locations discuss Anonymous and its members, bumble their way through some small talk, and do a lot of chuckling.

Things do not start well. The UK contingent confuses Sheffield with Birmingham, but everyone seems to bond once a well-known hamburger store is mentioned.

According to a statement on Pastebin that supports the release of the audio the call took place on Tuesday, 20 January and lasted for about 20 minutes.

“A conference call is planned for next Tuesday (January 17, 2012) to discuss the on-going investigations related to Anonymous, Lulzsec, Antisec, and other associated splinter groups. The conference call was moved to Tuesday due to a US holiday on Monday,” says a reproduced email that is signed by Timothy F. Lauster, Jr of the FBI.

The 16 minute conversation, which has been posted to a number of sites including YouTube, discusses ongoing investigations into hackers associated with Anonymous, AntiSec and LulzSec.

It appears that the spied-upon conference call took place on January 17th, as a confidential email giving the call-in details and passcode has also been published on the net.

Filesonic, one of the Internet’s leading cyberlocker services, has taken some drastic measures following the Megaupload shutdown and arrests last week. In addition to discontinuing its affiliates rewards program and not yet paying accrued money to members, the site has disabled all sharing functionality, leaving users only with access to their own files.

FileSonic is noteworthy because it has recently begun to establish formal distribution agreements with artists. Those contracts could be frozen if the authorities were to pursue copyright-infringement actions against FileSonic.
This thing is scaring other file sharing websites who will do the same if no one stood and did something about it.
Uploaded.to had stopped all activities for users from the US while other countries can still use their service, while MediaFire and RapidShare are keeping up their work and will not stop as announced on MediaFire Blog:
“Recently there has been extensive media coverage of the United States Government’s shut down of MegaUpload.com which has drawn attention to the entire cloud storage market as a whole. While I can’t speak to the allegations against MegaUpload, I’d like to just take this opportunity to clarify some misconceptions about MediaFire that I’ve seen recently.”

Lamar Smith, the chief sponsor of SOPA, said on Friday that he is pulling the bill “until there is wider agreement on a solution.”

Senate and House leaders announced Friday they are postponing work on two controversial anti-piracy bills in the wake of large online protests that spurred several congressmen to rethink the legislation.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced today that he is postponing Tuesday’s procedural vote on the Protect IP Act (PIPA). Meanwhile, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith said his committee is postponing consideration of PIPA’s House companion, the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), “until there is wider agreement on a solution.”

PIPA and SOPA are intended to strengthen protections against copyright infringement and intellectual property theft, but Internet advocates say they would stifle expression on the World Wide Web. CBS Corporation is among the media and entertainment companies that support the legislation.

PIPA, and its House of Representatives counterpart SOPA, would give the U.S. Attorney General powers to cut off ad dollars, payments, and search engine indexing to websites accused of facilitating copyright infringement. Critics argue that the bills are too broad and would therefore result in collateral damage and censorship.

This is a list of SOPA supporters [CLICK HERE]

After the shut down of Megaupload.com and the huge attack yesterday they are doing it today brining government sites down to express about how they feel.
