Review: Chronicle

Three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides.

Take Superman and mix in Blair Witch Project and you get Chronicle. An interesting story which takes a different twist on Superpowers. For Andrew, Matt and Steve have stumbled upon something beyond their – or anyone’s – understanding. Their discovery leads them to acquire powerful telekinetic abilities; or simply they have superpowers. They’re now capable of, well, almost anything. They can move objects just by thinking about them, crush cars through force of will. They even learn to fly. It feels like a realistic twist on getting superpowers, and the way it is shot gives it that gritty feel. Chronicle is a new film unlike any you’ve seen before, it’s a superhero movie that’s not really a superhero movie.

Diablo III – Impressions

In 1996 Diablo was released, then in 2000 Diablo 2 was released and both of them were at the top of the list during their release. I have been waiting over a Decade for Activition/Blizzard to release Diablo 3, honestly its taken so long and they are bit slow but it was worth the wait. And a lot of people went nuts, in the last 72 hours I managed to get an average of 4 to 8 hours of gaming a day, I mean I would be online if I wasn’t doing something major. At one point on Wednesday I totally forgot to eat or do anything else, pretty much felt like a Zombie and playing nonstop, I don’t think I have clicked my mouse as many times in the last 72 hours as I have the past two years, and I’m loving every moment of it.

The game itself is nice and smooth, they kept everything that was great about it and made it better, exactly what they said they would do. It’s smooth, and fun, you can play coop missions with your friends online up to four people. I chose the Monk because of his capabilities and I like the guy that I built up, and if the monk wasn’t available I would have been a Barbarian, I do love jumping in the middle between monsters and going crazy, that is always a lot of fun. I haven’t been obsessed with a game as much as I have as this one, I try to think of myself as a gamer, but time isn’t on my side but this case I forgot to do everything else and pretty much just gamed online nonstop with Diablo 3. Reading in forums some people finished the game in 72 hours, they pretty much put real life on hold to play this game, I wish I had that kind of free time, but I will have to make do and level up as fast as I can. If you have any inclination to Diablo then you will seriously love this game.

Review: Zahr El-Laymoun

We received an invitation awhile back from Zahr El Laymoun but never got the chance to visit until yesterday, and we were so glad that we did! Zahr El Laymoun is a Lebanese restaurant/cafe that serves Lebanese dishes in a homemade like. Their food is either grilled or baked and nothing is fried, which takes you back to the old days of how they used to make these dishes originally. What did I think of this concept? LOVED IT!

The moment you walk into the place you get the sense of traditions, culture and warmth. The decoration and the colors are is very cute and relaxing, you seriously feel like you are home while eating deliciously flavored food. Here’s a look:

Now let’s get to the food *drooling face*. So we were definitely starving and craving Arabian food! From the look at the menu, everything seemed good and delicious, so we left the decision to Mr. Rony who surprised us with one plate to another. He definitely did not disappoint us.

Starting off with a welcome bread basket and za3tar and some olives on the side. As they told us, everyday they serve something different, you gotta try it.

Why have a regular drink when you can have something different! Am not a fan of the taste of Ward in anything, but this Ward drink was refreshing and sweet, you would probably enjoy it after the meal more.

The thing about Wara2 El 3enab is that NO restaurant in Kuwait does it like homemade ones. It’s always un seasoned enough or the rice is too white, and sometimes spicy!!! But I think I finally found the place where they serve it RIGHT! Like I said, like its home made.

Baba ghanoug, it doesn’t taste like the ones you buy from other restaurants, this has vegetables and you can taste the grilled eggplant in it, delicious.

Hummus Bla7me is one of my favorites! Can’t say much about it as it’s ALWAYS good. Add to that some La7met Ras 3asfour and sojuk (more like spiced up hotdog with lots of flavor).

I do love taboleh but wanted to go for something different, so roca salad with shamandar, corn and slice of green apple was perfect with the seasoning.

After all this yummy food, we sat down to chat, we enjoyed our conversation with Mr. Rony who detailed all the information we needed about the restaurant and the food. Then it was time for coffee (traditional way) and some dessert. For the dessert we had Rez Eb 7aleeb and chocolate & biscuits with chocolate sauce on the side, the last one taste better than the home made one, MUST TRY!

Overall, I honestly had a great experience! I would definitely visit again and bring more family to try it out. I don’t know what you guys heard about this place before, but take my word for it, GO AND TRY IT OUT! Am sure you will not be disappointed if you are into Lebanese food. Zahr El-Laymoun is located in 360 mall and their new branch at the Avenues. A big thank you to Zahr El Laymoun for the generous invitation and presentation, you just got yourself a new customer :)

 المطعم أمريكي أصلي بطابع مطاعم تكساس التقليدية التى تقدم كافة أنواع الأطعمة من الستيك والسلطات الى الساندويشات والبيرجر .. ديكورات المطعم تحسسك أنك في وسط أحد مدن رعاة البقر


 الجلسة الخارجية للمطعم تشرح النفس

البيرجر كبير وسميك .. الخبز طري .. طعمها أمريكي تقليدي

المطعم بشكل عام ممتاز من ناحية الطعم والخدمة والجودة والأسعار .. بانتظار افتتاح المطعم في الكويت والذي أتمنى أن يستمر على نفس هذه الخدمة المميزة والطعم الأمريكي القح اضافة الى جودة المكونات المستخدمة و أخيرا السعر المعقول مقابل ما تحصل عليه ..  أعتقد أن هذا المطعم سيشكل خطرا كبيرا على المطاعم الأمريكية  المعروفة التى تقدم أطباق مشابه له عندنا في الكويت ... حذاري .. حذاري

fell in love after the first bite .. one of slider’s latest dishes .. it’s light .. it’s like your eating healthy asparagus but with Flavor ..which is the beef addition !

This will be added as part of my slider station diet appetizer if I  still feel hungry …  won’t dip it much into the lovely sweet sauce that comes with it even if it’s to die for !

 

People who are watching their food .. try this instead of Commando fries for appetizer !

It’s healthy yet yummy and you won’t get what did i just eat .. oh my god i just gained 2 pounds food regret !

TRY IT .. It’s amazing . ;)

My Nike FuelBand

The first time I saw the Nike Fuel was on my friend’s hand in mid march, and I was intrigued by it, I have seen a lot of those tools that tell you how much you have burned or how much you have walked but nothing like this. A simple designed product that can quantify your actions throughout the day. I know I was skeptic at first and I take the numbers with a bit of skepticism but it does something very well for me, it motivates me to move. There are types of information presented on the Nike Fuel Band, the time, Nike Fuel, Calories Burnt, and the Steps you have taken for the day. It adjusts your daily record based on the time that you program it for which I think is pretty cool. The LED’s give you an indication of how much fuel you have piled up for the day, and it does keep a decent record, the funny part is I know some people cheat, like they give their kids the fuel band to run around with so they don’t feel like they didn’t achieve anything for the day. Its hilarious that they feel the need to do that, this thing does make people move.

The Best part about is that it is somewhat water proof, I have done everything but swim in it, and I’m tempted to try it even though it says its not recommended I have online that some people have swam in it. And I love when you hit your goals for the day, you have 2000, 3000, or 5000 Nike Fuel goals and you have to enter your height and weight, and these numbers calculate based on the gyroscopes in the wrist band. People have argued with me that the numbers are exactly correct, but what they don’t understand is that it doesn’t matter, what matters is that with the Nike Fuel numbers you get a feel for your lazy days and you active days. You connect it to the USB to charge and it downloads all the information and sends it over to the Nike Website and presented in much higher detail the first picture, there is the month of March and I have hit the 3K Nike Daily Fuel Goal only 10 times which isn’t too bad but I think I can do better. Whats great is that the timing was perfect, just as I started going to the gym I got this product. It honestly just makes you less lazy, you just stare at the number and know how lazy you are. It’s a wristband that always measures your activity as you go about your day. With the Fuelband, you can quantify the consequences of your lifestyle. Honestly I think everyone should get one, especially people with iPhones since it wirelessly syncs the information to your iPhone, for me I have to plug it into the USB to upload the Data.

[Review-Massage] MenTime Spa

I’ve always wanted to go to a spa to have a massage, just relax, get away from everybody and every one thanks to my friend i finally did.

This is my first time i ever try one it was really nice, Therapist say:

Getting a massage every one or two weeks is ideal. Once a month is minimum for maintaining your muscle pliancy.

Once you’re feeling good, once a month is probably the minimum for maintaining the health of your tissue. If you start stretching the massages out too far, then your muscles can revert to their old patterns and you’ll have to start all over again to restore their suppleness and pliancy. Listen to your body, but don’t wait too long in an effort to save money.

Any ways let get back to the spa, we called 2 days before to reserve and since it was my first time i didn’t know what i’m doing so i’ve selected something random hehe

So i’ve went with the “Papaya Body Peel” i don’t know why LOL and apparently i had to take all my clothed off but they cover the “Things” with a towel if you’re concern :p

It was 150 Min (2:30 Hours) treatment of body massage and body scrubbing and jacuzzi, a complete relaxation.

Here’s the reception we were waiting for them to get the room ready and they serve us some chinese tea or whatever :p i didn’t like it a bit LOL, they also gave me an application to fill about my health condition for the safety of me and them.

This was my first room it also has a shower inside i had my massage here for about an hour, the second room had a jacuzzi but i don’t have a picture of it, they left me enjoying it for about 20 minutes then another massage and some kind of a body mask, he’ve asked me to take a shower 3 times -_- after every treatment.

This is the final place, it’s called the Relaxing Room, after we finished our massage they sat us down here to enjoy the music and have a cup of tea and a salted green apple.

It was a really nice experment for me and i think i’ll do it again whenever i had a chance, everyone should get some rest from work you know.

Review: The Avengers

Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. brings together a team of super humans to form The Avengers to help save the Earth from Loki and his army.




This was it, the one movie that brought them all together, every super hero to form the original Avengers. The long awaited movie was very much worth the wait, and Samuel L. Jackson played Nick Fury perfectly, a hard ass with a tough attitude. The story depicted depicted a threat in front of them they did not expect or know how to handle, but they came together as a team to face it, and the best part is the trailers gave nothing away. I don’t want to ruin the story for anyone, but one of the best parts for me is that they didn’t over do it with any specific character, and they had a lot of them, you have seen their movies so you know who these guys are, and even if you haven’t read the comics the story comes across perfectly. 142 minutes of pure joy, the action was nonstop from the beginning, I loved the S.H.I.E.L.D super fortress, there were a lot of tense moments and the comedic parts were played out perfectly which I loved. If you have seen the movie, you should definitely watch it.

Review: Safe House

A young CIA agent is tasked with looking after a fugitive in a safe house. But when the safe house is attacked, he finds himself on the run with his charge.




A very solid movie from two solid actors, Denzel Washington can make any movie better, and I know a few people aren’t the biggest fans of Ryan Reynolds but he did a fantastic job in this one. Ryan stars the CIA rookie that in charge of a boring Safe House while Denzel is the bag spy that everyone is after. Things start to get interesting as Denzel surrenders himself to the US Embassy, and things just keep getting crazier and crazier, the plot always seem to thicken and Ryan & Denzel are at each other’s throats through the whole ordeal while being chased by men intent on killing them. The movie keeps you on your toes and I loved how it played out, Denzel has another great role under his belt.

A career criminal (Gibson) nabbed by Mexican authorities is placed in a tough prison where he learns to survive with the help of a 9-year-old boy.




Funny enough this movie was named “Get The Gringo” in the US which I think is much better then the long “How I Spent My Summer Vacation” I didn’t have a clue what this movie was about except that Mel Gibson was in it. I saw a short preview and didn’t know what to expect, but I was surprised, this movie turned out to be really good. I know that Mel Gibson was shunned by Hollywood for going a bit nuts but he is still one bad ass in the movies, and he did a fantastic job with this character. In jail he has the perfect facial expressions for funny moments in a stressful situations, the guy pulled it off and this movie just proves that he is still a damn good actor. Plus the plot in this movie is unpredictable, and it gives you an insight in the Mexican prison system.

A fleet of ships is forced to do battle with an armada of unknown origins in order to discover and thwart their destructive goals.




I wasn’t sure what to expect with this movie since I was trying to not watch any trailers since I knew it was going to be fun. This is the type of movie you go into expecting to enjoy yourself and walk out with a smile. Honestly this movie turned out to be a better then I expected, I really enjoyed the action, lots of it all over the places. Aliens vs. Battleships and a bit of the Battleship board game idea thrown into the mix. Liam Neeson plays the bad ass admiral in the movie, he is always good at any role he plays, and Taylor Kitsch plays Alex Hopper as the man who always screws up because of his hot head, he is the guy from Friday Night Lights, always liked him. Fun cast for this movie and played out pretty well, a fun movie to watch.
