Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2012

2012 is indeed one crazy nerdy year, and totally one of the happiest year for the geeks around the globe. I don’t remember when I’ve been anticipating that much of new phones, gadgets, movies, videogames, OS upgrades, animes like this insane year before. I’ve read dozen of rumors every week and felt like I can’t keep up with all that, I just want them all now.. In this post I’ve tried to collect all the rumored, announced, and released items on a list based on most talked subject over the internet or by word of mouth.

Phones:

Android: most of the rumored android devices either released or officially announced already for 2012, and it feels like Androids devices manufacturers spat all what they have to overcome the iOS and beat other competitive company, most likely each other.

  • Sony Xperia S: When I first saw it, it took my breath away, it might be because I just love everything Sony makes, its sexy design was one of a kind in the typical rugged designs by the other Androids companies.
  • HTC One X: this beast wasn’t my priority android device at all till my friend Ali kept telling me how solid HTC is. Sporting the new Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 4.7 inches display 720 x 1280 pixels, HD recording, 8MP camera, with ICS.
  • Samsung Galaxy SIII: This what all the androiders were waiting for, and me too, but when it was announced I wasn’t sure what I’ve read… yes, it’s disappointing, with all those promos that Samsung released making fun of other companies’ users, it wasn’t much different from the HTC One X which was released 2 months earlier. So, obviously I prefer the HTC One X over Samsung Galaxy SIII.
  • Sony Xperia GX: The newest add to the android world is this another brilliant design by Sony. First ICS Sony phone with 4.6-inch HD Reality display, 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1700 mAh battery. Although this phone was announced for the Japanese market, but it could get an international release soon after.

iOS: One good thing about the iOS is, it’s the only model done by one company. The iPhone 5 is one of the most anticipating Apple device not by the fans but also by the Androids major companies. Everyone expecting another new innovative Apple tech will be included in this one. There’s no official announcement yet but rumors are insanely all over the internet, and the next WWDC2012 which will be held on June 11-15 in San Francisco might has some news about it. Furthermore, Apple might announce the iOS 6 upgrade.

Apple: (Rumors)

  • iPad mini: We’ve already seen the new iPad from Apple back in March, and that’s not enough for Apple, there might be another iPad with a smaller size called iPad mini.
  • iTV: Equipped with Siri for voice control and gestures control.
  • Retina Display: the most innovative screen built on the iPhone is coming to the iMacs and MacBooks… Back to the Mac.

Microsoft:

  • Windows 8: There might be not too much rumors about Microsoft but it’s official announcement for their latest Windows upgrade made a lot geeks drool for its beautifully look. Windows is Microsoft most known OS around the world which still going stronger than ever with its newest version Windows 8 coming in October.

Video-Gaming:

  • PS Vita: Is the upgraded version from Sony’s most dedicated handheld game console PSP. With its 5-inch OLED multi-touch capacitive touchscreen, 32-bit color, 960 × 544 qHD @ 220 ppi display, 2 cameras, and Wi-Fi/3G/Bluetooth connectivity, it’s becoming one of the most amazing handheld consoles to date.
  • Diablo III: Almost 12 years gap between the second part and this release! This RPG game has millions and millions fans around the globe.

Movies:

  • The Avengers: One of Marvel’s most successful movie, already released and it’s breaking all kind of records at the box office!
  • The Dark Knight Rises: Batman is coming back on July and I feel like this one in particular which will be competing fiercely with The Avengers.
  • The Amazing Spider-Man: Also set to release on July and remake of Peter Parker’s Spider-Man.
  • G.I. Joe: Retaliation: The second part of G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra. Release date on June.
  • Men In Black 3: Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are back with the third part of Men In Black. Release date on May.
  • Total Recall: a remake to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1990 sci-fi hit, with Colin Farrel. Release date on August.
  • Prometheus: a science fiction horror which looks promising. Release date on June.

Anime:

I talked about how great April 2012 was in previous post, which is a mere month in the spring season, and here’s a quick short list of the MUST SEE anime of 2012:

  • Fate/Zero 2
  • Zetman
  • Eureka Seven AO
  • Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna
  • Hyouka
  • Jormungand
  • Uchuu Kyoudai
  • Sakamichi no Apollon
  • Sankarea
  • Tsuritama
  • Mouretsu Pirates
  • Accel World
  • Berserk film series
  • Bakuman 3 coming in October

A rumor that has been going around lately is the retirement of Jackie Chan, and it’s simply not true.

Jackie Chan is quitting only action movies. Which means he will be making other movies from different genres. He recently told reporters at Cannes that he was getting “too old” and that he is “really, really tired”. Adding that his new film Chinese Zodiac will be his last action movie.

Well he is 58 years old so he does have a point.

I'm a huge fan of will smith and the movie I am legend. A few days ago, I was searching on my iPad for Will Smith movies and I found that the movie "I am legend" had an alternate ending. We all know Will Smith dies in the original ending, but in the alternate he lives.
I like the alternative ending and I think there will be a sequel

Three high school friends gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery. Soon, though, they find their lives spinning out of control and their bond tested as they embrace their darker sides.

Take Superman and mix in Blair Witch Project and you get Chronicle. An interesting story which takes a different twist on Superpowers. For Andrew, Matt and Steve have stumbled upon something beyond their – or anyone’s – understanding. Their discovery leads them to acquire powerful telekinetic abilities; or simply they have superpowers. They’re now capable of, well, almost anything. They can move objects just by thinking about them, crush cars through force of will. They even learn to fly. It feels like a realistic twist on getting superpowers, and the way it is shot gives it that gritty feel. Chronicle is a new film unlike any you’ve seen before, it’s a superhero movie that’s not really a superhero movie.

This is a prequel to the upcoming game Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier.
I highly recommend it

Ferrell plays incumbent congressman Cam Brady who makes a major public goof that forces a bunch of wealthy CEOs to put up a rival for his seat in Congress in the form of Galifianakis’ Marty Huggins, the director of the local Tourism Center.

I love both Ferrel & Galifianakis, this movie is going to be hilarious!!!

jackie chan armour of god chinese zodiac

Back in December 2011 I posted about Jackie Chan‘s newest movie which will be the the third part of the Armour of God series and it’s called Chinese Zodiac. Here’s a little update on the project, From April 18 to May 2, Jackie has been shooting some acrobatic scenes for the movie at the Aerodium vertical wind tunnel in Jelgava, Latvia. The movie set also took place in France, China, Taiwan and Vanuatu.

The movie tells about Asian Hawk bringing back the bronze head statues of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals, which were sacked by the French and British armies from the imperial Summer Palace in Beijing in 1860.

P.S. There’s a major fight scene of the action movie cost 70 million yuan, or more than 10 million U.S. dollars!!

This just made my day, and listening to Optimus Prime just sends shivers down my spine. Didn’t know that Hugo Weaving was Megatron, it fits that the bad guy from The Matrix is the bad guy for the Transformers. And Peter Cullen is the original Optimus Prime and they used him for the movies, the original and he sounds even better in the movie.

Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed the obvious today. After smashing through the record books with its$207 million domestic opening weekend and ruling the world with over $702 million grossed to date,Walt Disney Studios is working on The Avengers 2.

Iger also said The Avengers would appear at Disney theme parks in the future, which will be something new for the Marvel super heroes. Anyone who’s been to Universal Orlando Resort has experienced attractions like The Incredible Hulk Coaster and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. Now imagine what type of rides Walt Disney Imagineers can conjure with Marvel super heroes at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.

Those wondering where The Avengers 2 might go need only to stay until after the credits of the first film. (Spoiler alert!). That’s cosmic villain Thanos, who makes a cameo at the end of the movie. He’s a force to reckon with, having killed every one of the Avengers in the comic book world. Here’s hoping director Joss Whedon returns to helm the sequel and things don’t get too out of whack like they did in Iron Man 2. (Not that the $1.2 billion the Iron Man movies made worldwide is anything to complain about.)

The Avengers is the new king of the opening weekend.

The superhero movie grossed a unprecedented $200.3 million in its Friday-Sunday box-office debut, its studio estimated.

The film is the first to break $200 million in three days. It destroyed the mark held by the previous weekend record-holder, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

The Avengers started out big—taking in $18.7 million in midnight screenings—and got bigger: $80.5 million for all of Friday; $69.7 million on Saturday, a new record for that day; and, a projected $50.1 million on Sunday.

The film easily bested the opening-weekend performances of the Marvel Studios movies whose hero-stars were assembled for The AvengersIron Man ($99 million) and Iron Man 2 ($128 million); Thor ($66 million); and, Captain America ($65 million).

Here’s an Avengers-revised rundown of the top 10 all-time opening weekends, as compiled per BoxOfficeMojo.com stats:
