This 4-part mini documentary series was on the net for a while. I didn’t wanna post them until they’re finished, which they did when part 4 was released today. Also, the makers also did the Everything is Remix The Matrix & Kill Bill.
I really loved those videos. I hope the guy who did it will do a major documentary one day.

What’s the biggest LED screen you have ever seen? 60″ ? 150″? Well during my visit to AlHamra Mall, I saw the biggest and tallest LED screen in Kuwait measuring 14 meters X 11 meters, can you imagine the size?

Its also a High Definition and High Resolution and will be used to display fashion shows, cinema ads, and videos about Al Hamra. Some of the brands at the Hamra Mall include Hermes, GUCCI Cafe, BiCERistorante, Le Sushi Bar, Mouawad jewelry, kate spade fashion store and others. Can’t wait for the opening of the Mall!

I try to take my DSLR with me whereever I can but sometimes I don’t have the space to carry all the Lenses then I want, so instead of that I take with me my Canon G12, it has alot of features and as much control as I need from a DSLR. Now the next iteration in the Powershot family is the G1X which is going to sell for $800. Its sporting a 1.5-inch, 14.3-megapixel CMOS sensor (the largest sensor to date for a PowerShot model), the G1 X should deliver amazing shots from a compact point-and-shoot body. The camera features an ISO range of up to 12800, a Canon lens with 4x optical zoom, an aperture of f/2.8 to f/16, and wide-angle capabilities starting at 28mm. The G1 X also has 14-bit RAW+JPEG support, HDR shooting, full HD 1080p video recording, a 3-inch vari-angle LCD, and a Mode Dial and Front Dial for precise control. So you have a lot of features packed into this camera, I can’t wait to see it in real life and maybe try it out.

DropSnap Instantaneously Syncs All Your Android Device’s Photos to Dropbox. I am the type of person who is constantly snapping pictures with his phone but then I have to choose which pictures go to Dropbox and manually select them all and upload them. It was a very tedious process, but luckily someone thought the same thing and did something about it. The only way I could think of uploading my pics to my PC without connecting my phone to it was through DropBox and someone had the same idea but created a software to do what I was doing manually.

The moment you snap a picture it is saved to a photodirectory directory in your Android phone which DropSnap syncs automatically to a folder inside of DropBox. You have several options about how many times a day you can sync, if you want it only over Wifi or also over 3G, but I stuck to wifi because I’m usually connected to wifi where ever I am. DropSnap is a free download, but requires a $3.99 in-app purchase for automatic uploading to work. If you stay with the free version, you’ll get a notification every time you take a picture, which will let you enter the app and manually sync your photos.

A team from the new ISP in Kuwait WIMD came over to my house to fix their service so I could try it and give back my feedback.

As mentioned in my previous post WIMD established a wireless network covering all Kuwait to transfer the data, unlike traditional DSL that uses landlines. Some people questioned if they have a license to operate as ISP but from what I understood from them is that they have frequency 5.4 to 5.8 GHz & 2.4 to 2.8 GHz reserved for them from Ministry of Comm. to use.

They drive their Internet bandwidth from KEMS, QualityNet, GulfNet, and soon from Fasttelco which according to them will help keep the service up at all times. Their team went up to the roof of my house and started to locate the nearest Base Station, I live in Qadisiya so they said Hawally Central was the best, then they fixed the antenna (Signal receiver) and made testing and wiring from the antenna to the wireless Cisco router in my room.

I must say their team was fully equipped and experienced, they provided me with 20 Mbps which is their highest bandwidth speed.

After we had the wireless router fixed and turned-on we set the connection and did speed and ping tests, I used their servers along with other servers for the testing; download gave 16-18 Mbps and upload gave 14-16 Mbps while ping test gave 12 ms on average.

The first thing came to my mind is try HD YouTube videos and huge Torrent files, I was excited how 1080p videos ran smoothly but I noticed on torrent that am getting about 600 Kbps download speed but I should get 2.2 Mbps, they explained that this is because they are many signal interference in Hawally due to some people using their frequencies illegally, they also have this issue in Subhan area.

They have no cap or download limit and provide 24/7 trouble-shooting. My experience was positive but we wish if they resolve the signal interference issue to get the full potential.

We wish to thank WIMD for giving us the chance to review their service.

Electrozan are offering some really cool offers for state of the art TVs. You can get attractive offers on LCD and LED TV sets. Check out this [link] for a bigger pic resolution.

I paid InfoConnect expo a little visit this morning to see if there’s anything interesting to see or if there are special offers to get, but frankly I was disappointed. All I saw were the same Hawally shops plus telecom and ISP’s with some offers.

There were some good offers but nothing major, so if you are looking for latest techno news or products InfoConnect is surely not the right place for you. I brought you the internet yearly offers, hope this helps.

As you can see the offers are almost the same so if you are to choose which ISP then focus on the customer care and service integrity.

Tomorrow will mark the first day for Kuwait’s most popular electronics/telecom expo, InfoConnect, at Kuwait International Fair and extends for a week.

I always enjoyed visiting InfoConnect expo where people could find really great deals, but I’ve noticed in the recent years that its not like before, we want to see the latest things technology has reached plus more variety and more companies.

When: January 29th till February 4th
Where: Kuwait International Fair – Mishref.
Time: 9:00am – 1pm, 4:30pm – 9pm

FujifilmXPro1

CES comes around and all the good start showing up, the next thing you want to buy and this interesting camera is peaking my interest. This time around Fujifilm introduced a very interesting new camera, the X-Pro1. The new X-Pro1 will feature a 16megapixel X-Trans CMOS Sensor, with an APS-C format. This new type of sensor uses a Bayer color filter of 6×6 pixel (instead of the regular 2×2) to prevent the generation of moire and pseudo color. Basically it will shoot very cool shots and the camera looks retro which is function combined with looks, the best part is the interchangeable lenses . But its a bit on the pricey side going for $1700 and of the 3 lenses would cost $650 each, so by the time your done you would have spent $3650 on a camera which could have amazing shots. I will wait to see a few reviews, still I’m tempted.

Buy-one, get-one free. Half off. Two-for-one. Consumers love getting something extra.

Lenovo‘s new IdeaPad YOGA is being marketed as a four-in-one device. The chameleon-like computer can switch from a laptop to a tablet in three positions: flat, easel-like for touchscreen-based working, and a propped-up position. The company introduced the device at CES in Las Vegas on Monday.

Open up the laptop to see the full-size notebook with keyboard and leather palm rest. Fold it at the hinges to create a 13-inch touch-screen tablet.

The YOGA operates on Windows 8 and should offer up to eight hours of battery life. The company says the device is the “industry’s thinnest convertible ultrabook.” It measures 0.67 inches thin and 3.1 lbs.

“It is clear to us that consumers want their four screens: mobile devices, tablets, notebooks and smart TVs — and they want them to work together seamlessly, anytime, anywhere,” says Yang Yuanqing, Chairman and CEO, Lenovo. “The IdeaPad YOGA multi-mode notebook redefines the convergence and convertible user experience by bringing together the best of traditional PCs, with the best of tablets and more.”

The IdeaPad YOGA multimode notebook will be available in the second half of 2012 with an estimated starting retail price of $1,199.
