The photo above was taken by Ahmad Alnusif’s father and shows the Fatma Mosque being built back in 1972. I found the shot below on the Bestourism website showing the mosque today.

I think these two shots work really well as a before and after since the angles match up pretty closely. I’ve actually cropped into Ahmad’s photo above so that it matches todays photo (I hope he doesn’t mind) but you can see the full image in high resolution on his Flickr page [Here]

Its no secret that Im a big Star Wars fan.

Its not just because of the movies, the whole franchise is amazing and the art style is so unique that its instantly recognizable.

Don’t just take my word for it, check out these amazing Minimalist Star Wars Posters with illustrations by the talented David Duphil.

His art is extremely minimal but it just shows how well designed the original characters are, that you could recognize them just from a few shapes.

I can’t decide which is my favorite, Darth Vader, the Clone Trooper, The Storm Trooper, they are all just so good.

So what do you guys think? Which is your favorite.

Chances are you might have seen this before but most likely not. This is a really ambitious car based on the classic car of the same name The Jaguar E-type. During it’s day it was the car to have and even Ferrari at that time said that it is the most beautiful car. A university student called Laszlo Varga from Budapest University of Technology and Economics in Hungary, has created this modern day version of the beautiful car.

The design is so clever that if you knew the original you’d immediately recognize this car is directly related to its ancestor car. The classical look is still there, the beautiful simplicity and overall shape is something we do not see in modern day cars making this car a beautiful combination of modern and classical and a huge tribute to an already stunning car. Watch the brief video below for more.

The Japanese can never have enough with technology and I think the ret of the world should be glad as they make our lives easier. Their latest creation is by Students of the University of Tsukuba and the University of electro-communications; they created a little robot-like device called Qumarion.

This device is created for both 2D and 3D artists, it’a basically a physical mannequin which you pose like you would with an action figure only that this one transmits the exact pose to a 3D model on the computer. However you pose the mannequin, your 3D model will pose the same. It is an outstanding achievement and a very accurate one, it has 32 sensors to be exact.

This device’s focus is mainly 2D artists giving them an accurate pose so that they can trace it, 3D artists alike can use frame-by-frame animation as well. This will be release later this year for $750 and I think it is very reasonable.

When I first saw the images of this building, the first thing that came to mind was that the mothership has landed and this is what it looks like. Naturally, I thought it was just my overactive imagination again but it turns out that was actually the inspiration behind the design!

The building was designed with by a studio with one of the most fitting names, Supermachine, though Im surprised that they don’t even have a website, just a blog.

Website or not, the studio created this dynamic piece of architecture for Wyne Sales Gallery located in Thailand. The main idea behind the building was, “to take a large, long structure, and hover it above the ground so people will access the building from ground stair ways leading up into the space”. Supermachine abstractly describes the concept as a spaceship hovering above ground, barely touching the earth with it’s ladder.

When I first laid eyes on this gorgeous house, it looked like a perfect interpretation of what a Minecraft (video game) house will look like. This piece of art is located at Bethesda, Maryland and was created by David Jameson Architect Inc.

What is truly unique about this house is of course its simplicity and pixelated shape that makes it stand out in the middle of the green surroundings. The house is incredibly small at 860 sq in size yet the many blocky edges that pop in and out of the house gives a little bit more space but to be honest I’d love to live in such house, it is just beautiful despite its drawbacks.

The interior of the house is no different, its like looking inside a shell, everything is a reflection of the outside and it is just as great.

As soon as I saw this, I fell in love. You’d immediately recognize this new product by the design style previously seen on the Jawbone Bluetooth headsets, now they are making wireless speakers. These speakers are called Jambox and Big Jambox and they both function similarly where using your smartphone, tablet or computer, you can wireless stream your music and video through it.

Not only the device is beautifully designed, it provides sound from every angle as the design compliments the technology where sound exists through the little cracks giving you a 3D sound experience. What is new about this device is definitely the wireless transmission as well as it being cordless, you can charge it and it will play your media for 15 hours!

This is a must for the workplace and come to think about it, it is useful everywhere! This product is not out yet but it will cost around $199 for the large one and $299 for the small one. For more info head over to Jawbone’s website.

When I first read the cafe’s name, Graffiti Cafe, I was expecting something totally different. I envisioned vandalized walls and spray paint dripping all over the place, not the chique and modern design that you see before you.

Keeping the strange name aside, this place is gorgeous. Everything from the clean white furniture and the wooden columns made out of and array of thin panels, is very creative.

The cafe is located at Varna a place that is often refereed to as the summer capital of Bulgaria. It was designed by the talented people over at Studio Mode. A floor above the Graffiti Cafe is the Gallery of Modern Art, therefore, the designers knew they needed to cater the design to an artistic crowd, which is exactly what they did.

Taken from Skyscraper City:

This is a proposal for a Hyatt Regency hotel and full-fledged convention center that was proposed way back in 1975. I can’t help but be completely floored by this concept – the hotel and overall complex look absolutely massive! The hotel building itself has a timeless classicism to it; I think it would cohesively fit in with all the modern, glassy buildings we have today while retaining its 70s feel. This could have been our equivalent of the Sheraton in Doha, which began construction way back in 1978 and opened in 1980. That Sheraton is one of Doha’s iconic landmarks today, something Qataris are proud of. -ChaoticTranquility
