I was seeking a small compact computer to use while I’m travelling and for easy carrying, and a friend of mine told me about Acer AspireRevo.

The specs are cool; .6GHz Intel Atom N230, 320GB hard disk, 3GB memory, HDMI output, and of course very small in size and light weight.

It can be mounted on your monitor, or placed beside TV receiver and still looks cool with affordable price (about 110 K.D). Some will argue why not consider say Mac Book Air, but considering the price, I’d stick to Aspire Revo.

Where can you get it? Amazon or any online electronic store.

Thanks [Sami]

I just put together a new desktop, which I will post about later, and was recommended Ninite for the installations. Ninite makes bulk installing much simpler for PC builders. It allows you to choose from a list of very popular software and then integrates it all into a single, simple, installer. As I type this [...]

During my shopping at the Avenues Mall I saw that BOSE store is opening soon. I tried to reach the owners to see what speakers they will have and was told home theaters, phones, sub-woofers, headsets, computer surround systems among others.

I think Porsche also uses optional BOSE surround systems. I’m a big fan of BOSE surround system and I remember I used 5.1 Dolby Digital for my ex-desktop.

I’m getting a new BOSE home theater soon !

I got news for facebook fans, now they can enjoy video chat with their friends after Mark Zuckerberg had unveiled that they will offer the new service soon in collaboration with Skype.

Google has been working on a social networking platform for a while now, and they have failed with Wave and Buzz is just a side tool at this point. They needed to find the key mixture of social connectivity, privacy and content to out do Facebook as well as integrate it into the other Google Services.

I like that you can completely control the level of content and connectivity that it has to your account. And I like the simple interface and the Android application which works seamlessly with it, I don’t have an iPhone but a few people already mentioned that the iPhone interface for Google+ is very good. The best part about it is that you can completely delete your account and shut it down if you don’t want it. For me this is a new thing to enjoy because I never had a MySpace or Facebook account, and I for one trust Google, I don’t know why I do but I trust them. So lets hope that Google+ keeps getting better, and for now its invite only and they have closed it but I’m assuming that it will open soon to all.

I just saw videos from Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) showing the smart Syrian-origin Steve Jobs unveiling the new Apple concept, the iCloud.

Personally, I’m still trying to fully understand the idea of iCloud, but from I understood so far is that ICloud stores your content (Photos, music, calenders, apps..etc)  in a virtual space and wirelessly sends it to all your devices like iPhone, iPad and computer, so you don’t need to manually transfer the files.

I received news that Internet prices in Kuwait will soon be reduced, according to a statement made by the Ministry of Communication. Regardless of the sea able being damaged every now and then, I believe that Internet services have greatly improved in Kuwait over the past couple years, but we still lack

the value. The Ministry of Communication also mentioned that new Internet Service Providers will join the Market of Kuwait, which will create more competition, thus better services and prices will be offered.

Now, use the poll below to share your thoughts with us, and let’s help Internet companies in Kuwait get an idea of what you think of the prices

Microsoft offered up a preview of its next operating system, Windows 8. It works on desktops and tablets, it looks attractive and promising, but I wish we will not see the same errors we get with Windows 7.

I noticed many friends moving to Mac OS because of its reliability and stability, but I still find Windows a great experience. Windows 8 will be available early next year.

I came to know that VIVA had completed the 1st phase for optimizing its network toward achieving the 4G.

The 4G allows faster internet, higher quality signals and greater security for mobile wireless phones and computers. Also, when I visited Zain city, I tried the fastest internet in Kuwait till this moment, the LTE (Long Term Evolution), which is last step toward the 4G.

The operator told me that LTE allows 100 MB/s download speed, but the actual testing got us about 60-70 MB/s:

Nevertheless, I never saw HD YouTube videos play this much fast, I can only imagine the speed of the 4G. The big question is who will launch the 4G technology first ? :)

Back in the day I remember movies like Hackers, Swordfish, and The Matrix where people just slam on their keyboards and they break through the Government & Defense Department Computers within minutes. All of them just typing away at black screens then transfering secret documents or a ton of money like Swordfish or Hackers.

Now thanks to the website Hacker Typer, you too can hack like they do at the multiplex! Just pound away on your keyboard and, presto, hacking! Put on some BlackStreet and pretend it’s 1997! Explorer is for sissies!

For those of you who have more PCs then screens a KVM is always the best option. A few years ago their weren’t too many options, especially if you are looking for multiple screens and multiple machines. If you want a three screen setup on one machine your best bet is to stick to one machine and not use a kvm but if you have multiple machines then this is the way to go.

Pros:

  • Easily handles dual screen mode on 2560+ resolution with movies and games without an issue
  • Very clean and sleek design
  • Came with all the cables to connect 4 machines with dual screens
  • Keeps the resolution of the PC even when it restarts and it isn’t the machine actively on the screen

Cons:

  • Doesn’t work with the latest wireless mice
  • A bit expensive but most Dual DVI KVMs are around that price if not more

Overall: Love the KVM and it works with any operating system, but I can’t believe it doesn’t recognize my wireless mouse, for something that expensive you would think they could have taken care of something such as this especially since its been around for a while.

We had our hands on the new BlackBerry Playbook, it was released yesterday at X-CITE and electrozan, the price was 219 K.D. In my review I tried my best to sum up all the features and specs.

I have gone through several storage devices over the years and now I have been using the Synology 1511+ and loving it. I still have my Netgear which has been operating fantastically, but I needed some more storage in another location and less expensive, Synology fit the bill perfectly. One thing to note I really am not a fan of Drobo after trying it out, its speed is always questionable and it has problems sometimes dealing with different drives, and its can’t be attached to the network easily.

Pros

  • Very well built
  • A long list of features
  • Amazing Web Based & PC/Mac Manageorgeous, PC and web-based management software
  • Works with 3TB Drives
  • Expandle with DX510 Expansion Unit
  • Hot-Swappable Drives

Cons

  • Its a bit on the expensive side

Synology builds a solid piece of hardware with useful things like 4 USB, 2 eSATA, and 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports. What makes their products truly great is their fantastic software. The feature set is too long to list here, but it’s basically a file/backup/web/email server, media streamer, and download manager jammed into a cubic foot box. You can have it up in running in 10 minutes thanks to its amazing software.

The same software can be used with different machines, so you can have several Synology Storage Units on your network controlled from the same panel. Its a very highly featured software and your able to configure your storage device in any way possible, and its still simple enough to set it up in about 10 mins. I am running it at 5 x 3TB Hitachi Drives for the past few months without any headaches at all, this is a very high performing machine and the best part is that it can be expanded up to 45 TB with two more additional units which just hook right up to the back of the 1511+.

I highly recommend any Synology model, and espeically this one is fantastic this one is awesome!
