I just saw videos from Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) showing the smart Syrian-origin Steve Jobs unveiling the new Apple concept, the iCloud.
Personally, I’m still trying to fully understand the idea of iCloud, but from I understood so far is that ICloud stores your content (Photos, music, calenders, apps..etc) in a virtual space and wirelessly sends it to all your devices like iPhone, iPad and computer, so you don’t need to manually transfer the files.
A few days back we conducted a survey to know what people think about Internet prices in Kuwait, and today we bring you the results:
Its clearly shown that the majority (65%) of people in Kuwait think that the current prices are too high, while 26% still think its in the high range, 5% think its normal and only 4% think its low.
As I said before, the Internet services and speeds have improved over the last years in Kuwait but people strongly believe that prices should be reduced.
I also came to know about a newly formed Facebook page with people demanding to stop the Internet capacity limit in Kuwait, they say that the Internet companies are setting up a max 2.8 GB/Day limit for the users, and that currently only Fast Telco who did not set a daily cap.
I really hope Internet companies to reconsider, to visit the Facebook page click here

I received news that Internet prices in Kuwait will soon be reduced, according to a statement made by the Ministry of Communication. Regardless of the sea able being damaged every now and then, I believe that Internet services have greatly improved in Kuwait over the past couple years, but we still lack
the value. The Ministry of Communication also mentioned that new Internet Service Providers will join the Market of Kuwait, which will create more competition, thus better services and prices will be offered.
Now, use the poll below to share your thoughts with us, and let’s help Internet companies in Kuwait get an idea of what you think of the prices
Microsoft offered up a preview of its next operating system, Windows 8. It works on desktops and tablets, it looks attractive and promising, but I wish we will not see the same errors we get with Windows 7.
I noticed many friends moving to Mac OS because of its reliability and stability, but I still find Windows a great experience. Windows 8 will be available early next year.
I came to know that VIVA had completed the 1st phase for optimizing its network toward achieving the 4G.
The 4G allows faster internet, higher quality signals and greater security for mobile wireless phones and computers. Also, when I visited Zain city, I tried the fastest internet in Kuwait till this moment, the LTE (Long Term Evolution), which is last step toward the 4G.
The operator told me that LTE allows 100 MB/s download speed, but the actual testing got us about 60-70 MB/s:
Nevertheless, I never saw HD YouTube videos play this much fast, I can only imagine the speed of the 4G. The big question is who will launch the 4G technology first ?
Our Canon 600D camera is finally here ! I thought about ordering it from Amazon but I found it at X-CITE with a price of 336 K.D. I can’t wait to take shots and HD videos.
The DSLR will help me a lot in taking high quality photos for the blog and personal use, and of course thanks to out visitors for helping us make the decision. Now I’ll consider some courses on photography.
Tomorrow I’ll create the first post using our own DLSR, so stay tuned and tell us what you think. Meanwhile, any piece of advice you may is welcome !
We received our brand new Kodak Zi8 HD camera specialized for shooting YouTube videos for the blog. Being able to shoot HD videos for YouTube is really important for the bloggers and personal use.
What I loved about this video camcorder is that its small enough to fit in the pocket and captures every experience in stunning 1080p HD video with image stabilization too.
1080p HD video for only 45 KD, that’s something I highly recommend. If you like it you can get it from Amazon click here
I was glad when I heard that PLAYSTATION network is finally back, though I just came to know that the network is still not working in Kuwait. I tried to play online games but I received a message that the network is still under maintenance
It seems it will take a while for the network to work in Kuwait, but SONY CEO promised that they will have stronger security.
Today I had my hands on the “Motorola Xoom” which was released today by VIVA. I find Motorola Xoom to be a very competitive to iPad 2, and has some better hardware specs.
Some of the great features that I love about it is the dual core 1 GHz processor, 10.1-inch widescreen HD display, supports 1080p HD video and HDMI, 2-megapixel camera for chats and 5-megapixel camera that captures video in 720p HD.
It also uses Android honey comb 3.0 OS and has plenty of applications, these features are enough to make me consider it ! Though of course Apple iPad 2 also has some features that are better but Motorola Xoom remains one of the best tablets out there.
VIVA is offering the Motorola Xoom for initially 99 K.D. and monthly subscription of 20 K.D. for two years. The internet speed is 7.2 MB/s.
Note: VIVA allowable download capacity is 2 GB per day.
Apple had beaten Google and became the world’s most valuable brand with a value of $153 billion. Now this is something I have foreseen, especially with Apple-holics everywhere
As for the other brands in the top 15 list, I noticed some changes from the 2010 list.
We were invited by Kuwaiti company specialized in top of the line digital entertainment solutions “Envision” at Tilal complex for the pre-launch of the first Kuwaiti engineered full HD portable media player “ENVO PLAY”.
ENVO PLAY is basically a portable media player than can play HD movies and other media formats such as MP3, PDF, WMA, MOV, FLV, WMV..etc. We were given free ENVO device to give our impressions on it.
Personally, I was interested because the device was thought by Kuwaiti mentality, I liked how it is simple Plug ‘n Play, just connect it to your computer or Mac with the USB, transfer files and enjoy watching them on 6 in screen with good resolution and sound.
It can also be connected to flash drive or hard drive via a mini USB, good feature ! and it has HDMI outlet to connect to the TV to watch movies in 1080p full HD , this is great for home theaters.
There was remote control, headset, charger, protective cover, component cable. The price is 39 KD for 5in and 49 for the 6in screen, very reasonable !
My remark is that if they had more colors, it would look more appealing, though the specs, functions and value are great. The ENVO will be available in Kuwait stores very soon.
SONY had unveiled a new android based tablet today. I admit that Apple led the way with smart phones and tablet devices, and companies are now doing their best to beat Apple.
So now we have Apple iPad 2, Samsung Galaxy tab, Motorola Xoom, Blackberry Playbook, did I miss anything ?
Do you think Apple will stand against all those companies combined together under the Andoird OS ? I think even if they can, it just won’t be easy !
I’m seriously considering to buy a DSLR camera for a pro photography and HD videos, but I’m at complete loss, my experience with such cameras is almost zero.
My budget is up to 400 K.D, do you have any recommendations ? What should I look for in a DLSR camera ? What brands are best Cannon, SONY, Kodak , others ?
